about

“The song is about betrayal, and the denial that comes with it. Wanting to see the good in someone before ultimately accepting that person as the enemy. Almost pleading with them not to choose the darkness “Don’t take the night”.
It also touches on the subject of the fantasies and anger that often come with betrayal, “Take the gun and I’ll take the knife” conjures imagery of some sort of street battle. But ultimately the song finds it’s resolve in knowing that people of duplicitous nature can only do harm when welcomed into your life. It’s about taking a step back and becoming witness to evil, fighting against itself, instead of allowing it to consume you.
“I’d love to take you down, but I have a feeling you will expire by your own hand”. Take The Night is one of the few “Dark” tracks on the record, in which conflict is recalled. It really is a song that helped me get passed some harsh moments in my life. It’s a fantasy piece, and catharsis.”

lyrics

Don’t take the night
Don’t leave here
Just make it right
Greenbacks on your mind
Do you expect me to live that kind of lie?
I won’t
I’ll fight

Don’t take the night
Take the gun, and I’ll take the knife
Don’t take the night

Adios my best friend
You won’t be here when that day ends
I’d love to take you down
But I have a feeling you will expire by your own hand

Don’t take the night
Only one kind of love can survive
Don’t take the night

How long will you need each other
How long

about

Patrick Krief Montreal, Québec

Patrick Krief has turned on, tuned in, dropped out and come out the other side with a psychedelic masterpiece.

On Chemical Trance, the Montreal musician taps into that holy intersection of divine and mortality, confronting his own vulnerabilities in a beautiful cacophony that, at times, recalls Pink Floyd, late-era Beatles, Leonard Cohen and Radiohead. Yet, somehow, is uniquely Patrick Krief.
